Shine

The story

This story is up to interpretation. The goal was to sensibilize and inspire people.

A version of this story could be an inner self, linked to depression, DID or BPD, to show how hard it is to deal with this kind of disorders. The alter's name, Shine (pronounced shinē), means "to die" in Japanese, but, depending on how you see the story, it can also mean "to shine" in English. After the death of what was bothering Alex, they ended up shining, showing that they overcame that trauma and became stronger. Others might see it also as a suicide, which frees them from the shackles of their thoughts.

My role

My roles in this project were acting, doing part of the 2D animation (mostly of the first scene, the one with the birds on each corner and the animation of the title), the design of the birds and of my animation scenes, the scenarist and creating the audio, which the end part was modified by a teammate.

This project was created in video editing and 2D animation class, using After Effects, Adobe Illustrator and DaVinci Resolve. For this project, the French literature program wrote poems and sent them to us, which we had to modify and add effects in order to fit our stop motion.
